Building Blocks

Playful opportunities abound in Design, Build, Play!, an exhibit inspired by the art and architecture of playground equipment company Kompan. Through their play, children will gain a variety of pre-math and science skills as well as build knowledge about themselves and the world around them.

Benefits of Deisgn, Build, Play

Intellectual Development
Math concepts are developed as children sort, count, and measure their design plans and block structures.

Vocabulary is promoted as children discuss characteristics of their building designs or how the blocks in their towers are positioned. Children develop science inquiry skills including observing, questioning, exploring, reflecting and investigating.

Social Development
As children play and build with others they practice social skills such as communication, cooperation, negotiation and sharing.
