Camps at the Children's Museum

Make every season fun, educational, and filled with new experiences in camps at the Children's Museum of Tacoma.

Kids explore topics ranging from their backyard to the moon that engage them in skill building and whet their appetite for learning.

Active Adventure camps are for children K-3rd Grade Graduates and are weeklong camps. (Please bring a lunch for AA camps)

Young Explorer camps are for children ages 3-5 years old and are two half day camps. (No lunch necessary for YE camps)

Active Adventurers: July 26-30

Roll up your sleeves and get ready to explore colorful, messy, wacky and FUN methods for making art! We’ll sculpt, print, paint and collage our way to some fantastic masterpieces. (Active Adventurer artists will showcase their pieces in our second annual FUNdamentals Art Show, Friday afternoon)

¡Hola!  Spanish Explorations
Active Adventurers: August 2-6

Take an imaginary voyage to experience the culture and language of several Spanish speaking countries through songs, stories, art and games. (Active Adventurer friends and family are invited to join us Friday afternoon for a special fiesta!)

Artful Science
Young Explorers: August 9-12*
                       * 4 day camp for Young Explorers

We've taken two of the Museum's most popular camps and blended them together for an exciting fusion of Art and Science. We'll add a beaker's full of silly science to create unique works of art and explore the science behind art making.


Trickster Tales
Active Adventurers: August 9-13

Why is Coyote gray? How did Raven light up the world? Through acting, storytelling and illustrating, campers will playfully discover animal tricksters from around the world. (Friends and family are invited to enjoy our Trickster performance on Friday afternoon)

Cooking Around the World
Active Adventurers: August 16-20
Young Explorers: August 16-17

Grab your apron and get ready for culinary adventures around the globe. We’ll prepare a tasty, progressive meal, starting with an appetizer and ending with dessert to be brought home and shared. Each camp will feature new foods from different countries. (Active Adventurer chefs will serve families and friends a sampling of our cultural cuisine each Friday afternoon)
