Spring Break EscapesCooking up a StormJunior chefs will don aprons and whisk up delicious fare perfect for a spring meal. Each day will feature a different course. Young Explorers (3-5 year olds) Active Adventures (K-3rd grade) Summer Camps 2010Cooking Around the World Session 1 Cooking Around the World Session 2 Grab your apron and get ready for culinary adventures around the globe. We’ll prepare a tasty, progressive meal, starting with an appetizer and ending with dessert to be brought home and shared. Each camp will feature new foods from different countries. Cooking - From the Garden to the Table What yummy dishes can be made from things that grow in the garden? We’ll visit our very own Tacoma Farmer’s Market and learn how fruits and veggies travel from the garden to our tables. (Active Adventurer families and friends are invited to join us Friday afternoon to sample some of our Farmer’s Market fare) Super Silly Science Three…, two…, one…, BOOM! Budding scientists will predict, test and observe the Ahoy Mateys! Prepare to set sail on the high seas for a swashbuckling good time. Nǐ Hǎo! Chinese Explorations Take an imaginary voyage to experience Chinese culture and learn basic Mandarin through songs, stories, art and games. (Active Adventurer friends and family are invited to join us Friday afternoon for a celebration of our Chinese cultural discoveries) ¡Hola! Spanish Explorations Take an imaginary voyage to experience the culture and language of several Spanish speaking countries through songs, stories, art and games. (Active Adventurer friends and family are invited to join us Friday afternoon for a special fiesta!) Art Fundamentals Roll up your sleeves and get ready to explore colorful, messy, wacky and FUN methods for making art! We’ll sculpt, print, paint and collage our way to some fantastic masterpieces. (Active Adventurer artists will showcase their pieces in our second annual FUNdamentals Art Show, Friday afternoon) Trickster Tales Why is Coyote gray? How did Raven light up the world? Through acting, storytelling and illustrating, campers will playfully discover animal tricksters from around the world. (Friends and family are invited to enjoy our Active Adventurer Trickster performance on Friday afternoon) |
