The importance of art education is cited in everything from Guggenheim studies showing that art-making improves literacy skills to Wallace Foundation findings that exposure to the arts fosters cultural sensitivity.

The benefits of exposure to artistic endeavors can be seen in everything from the scribbling of toddlers that leads to writing letters to the visioning of BCRA designers that leads to a new art studio design for the Museum!

Rebecca Ann Smith Ozias

Becka's Studio
celebrates the life of Rebecca (Becka) Ann Smith Ozias. Before Becka's death in 1996, she worked at the Children's Museum of Tacoma as our Public Relations Manager. The studio directly reflects the special qualities Becka brought to life. It is a place to play. A place where creative energy can be fostered, encouraged, and appreciated. It is a place for smiles, joy and experimentation. A location to mark the youthful energy and vibrancy of her life.

We would like to thank those whose generous gifts of time and financial resources created Becka's Studio. We know the hum of children actively involved in the artistic process is music to her ears.
